Mechanism-Based PKI - A Real-Time Key Generation from Fingerprints
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes a “mechanism-based PKI”, in which only a mechanism for generating user's private keys is installed on a smart card. The private key is generated inside the smart card at the event that the legitimate user gives a “seed of private key” to his/her smart card in order to sign a massage. The key exists nowhere except while users are signing a massage. Thus, users no longer need to pay considerable attention to their smart cards. In addition, this paper also proposes a “statistical A/D conversion”, which is an effective scheme to convert fingerprint to just one and the same ID in realtime. The statistical A/D conversion enables us to use fingerprint as a seed of private key. We construct an example system for real-time key generation form fingerprint. From some basic experiments that we carried out, the availability of the system is confirmed.

متن کاملSecurity middleware for enhancing interoperability of Public Key Infrastructure
This paper describes a security middleware for enhancing the interoperability of public key infrastructure (PKI). Security is a key concern in e-commerce and is especially critical in cross-enterprise transactions. Public key cryptography is widely accepted as an important mechanism for addressing the security needs of e-commerce transactions because of its ability to implement nonrepudiation. ...
متن کاملAn ECC-Based Mutual Authentication Scheme with One Time Signature (OTS) in Advanced Metering Infrastructure
Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) is a key part of the smart grid; thus, one of the most important concerns is to offer a secure mutual authentication. This study focuses on communication between a smart meter and a server on the utility side. Hence, a mutual authentication mechanism in AMI is presented based on the elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) and one time signature (OTS) consists o...
متن کاملImplementation and adaptation of the Pseudonymous PKI for Ubiquitous Computing for Car-2-Car Communication
Car-2-Car communication requires the use of pseudonymous public keys to ensure the vehicle’s privacy by making its messages unlinkable over a longer period. The Pseudonymous PKI (PPKI) for Ubiquitous Computing by K. Zeng [Ze06] offers peer-side pseudonym generation, non-repudiation and an efficient revocation mechanism that excludes the revoked peers from the group of authorized participants. I...
